Archipelago

Sundom has a wide and varied archipelago nature with a total of over 220 km of coastline and hundreds of islets and skerries, ranging from a lush inner archipelago to barren skerries and shoals out in the Kvarken. The outer archipelago and the Torgrund archipelago are Natura 2000 areas and form part of the Kvarken World Heritage Site.

In Sundom there is an archipelago culture with fishing villages, old cattle sheds thousands of leisure cottages and accommodation options in holiday cottages on Utterö. The land rise in the area is about 85 cm per century. Bays are being filled and the low islets are growing. Well-marked small boat routes cross rocky bays and straits.
